He stared at her and said "You dont know?"
Shalini knew why he did and also knew something he didnt, she wanted him to do it.
Rajesh always made her feel special, his admiration for her was not based on her looks,it was for the carefree little girl she was, it was for the strong woman she was,it was for the person she was.
"My Dad passed away 6 months ago"he said, breaking the silence
"How!!!!"...she knew how much his dad meant for him.
He would always say he wanted her to meet his dad and probably he is the only person who would understand what he feels for her.
"Heart attack...I never could tell him about you", sadness in his tone melted her heart and her eyes were moist with tears.
"That was one time, I missed you more than anytime, I wanted to talk to you...so very badly"..tears were now rolling down her cheeks.
"How's your mom?"
"Lives with my younger brother now..."
She wanted to reach out to him, hold his hand, but the wife in her stopped her.
She had told Arun all about Rajesh before they wed and Arun did not bother about her past he wanted her to be his future and he always had been a loving husband and Rajesh was long forgotten between them, except he lived in her memories.It was not easy to forget the 5 months they spent together.
"Kids?..."
"How abt you?" she asked
"No."
"Abhi is with Arun's mom"
"Abhi..." there was a sparkle in his eyes.
Rajesh always called himself, Abhimanyu, he would tell Shalini, how his love for her was like a maze for which he knew no return. He only knew the way in, not the way out.
"You have put on a little weight...not going to gym"
"I am getting older and cant stay slim forever" she retorted
He came closer to her, she could smell his cologne, he still used the same one, the same one she loved.
His eyes fixed on hers, she closed her eyes and could feel him even more closer, she could feel his breath on her,slowly wishpered in her ear.."You can never get old for me....Alooo" and started laughing aloud.
He used to call her "Aloo" to tease her, which she hated. the first time he called her aloo, she hit him with
pillow and he kept running around the house. He run into the balcony, she followed him,he snatched the pillow
and threw it down and before she knew his lips were on hers. She couldnt help but kissing him back, all the reason went out of the window, the fact that he was somebody's husband did not cross both of their minds.
"Lost in the past", he said wickedly.
"No..." she said sternly
"You still cannot lie..." he chuckled
She hated how he could see thru her.
His mobile rang...Shalini felt the same pang of jealously, she hated the calls he got from his wife.It meant he had to leave and go to her.
She didnt know if it was the pain leaving her or going to his wife that was more.
"I gotta go now..."
She stared at him....same way she did 7 years ago.
"No...its not her..." he knew what that stare meant
He quickly cleaned the table, put the dishes into the cart, put the candles out..
"Its time to go...."
He came close to her, held her hands and gently kissed them.
"I missed you...we'll meet again...its our destiny" and quickly wheeled the cart out of the room
And like a whiff he was gone....
The door opened ...Arun walked in. It dint take long for her to realise, the call was to tell him Arun was coming.
"Hey..How are you feeling..I saw the hotel guy taking the dinner cart...good thing you ate something"
She still stood there absorbing what just happened, she dint know if she was dreaming
Arun came close, put his arms around her...kissed on her forehead
"Meet Mr.Arun Seth..Vice President IT"
She stood there motionless
"Hey...you are not happy for me" he looked confused
"No..congrajulations Mr.Seth, you deserved it" she tried hard to smile
"I deserve something else too....." and next thing she knew, he carried her to the bed....
